This is statistical data about our users' browsing actions and patterns and does not identify any individual.

For the same reason, we may obtain information about your general internet usage by using a cookie file which is stored on the hard drive of your computer. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer's hard drive. They help us to improve our site and to deliver a better and more personalised service.

Nor do we collect any information about criminal convictions and offences.

If you choose not to share personal data with us, or refuse certain contact permissions, we may be unable to provide the products and services you require.

5. How We Collect the Data

  • Make an enquiry or request information directly via email or phone
  • Order our products or services
  • Provide your business card or contact details at an event or networking meeting

We may receive personal data about you from various types of third parties, including:
  • Technical Data and/or Tracking Data from analytics providers, advertising networks and search information providers;

  • Data from any third parties who are permitted by law or have your permission to share your personal data with us, such as via social media (i.e. LinkedIn or Twitter) or review sites.

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to.

6. How We Use Your Data

We may use your personal data in the following ways –

  • To carry out our obligations arising from any contracts entered into between you and us and our manufacturing partners.
    • For example, when you purchase our products, or have requested a quote.

  • Where it is necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of our manufacturing partners) and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests.
    • For example,
      • To ensure that content from our site is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer.
      • To provide you with information, products or services that you request from us or which we feel may interest you, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes.
      • To allow you to participate in interactive features of our service, when you choose to do so.

    • For example, keeping records of our sales for ISO 9001 quality purposes.
    • To notify you about changes to our service.

As a rule, we do not rely on consent as a legal basis for processing your personal data other than where the law requires it. Where our legal basis is consent, you have the right to withdraw consent any time.

We may process your personal data for more than one lawful ground depending on the specific purpose for which we are using your data. We do not carry out any automated decision making.

7. Marketing and your Communications Preferences

We may use your Identity, Contact, Marketing and Transactional details to form a picture of what we think you may be interested in, or what may be of interest to you. This is how we decide which products, services and offers may be relevant for you and tell you about them.

We may carry out direct marketing by email, phone, social media or via post. For example, you may receive the Sarsen Technology newsletter via email or we may send you a new datasheet in the post. You can opt out of this communication at any time.

If you do not want us to use your data in this way, or to pass your details on to our manufacturing partners for marketing purposes, please opt out using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email communication, or send us an email with your request – info@sarsen.net .

We do not disclose information about identifiable individuals to third party advertisers, but we may provide them with aggregate information about our users (for example, we may inform them that 500 men aged under 30 have clicked on their advertisement on any given day). We may also use such aggregate information to help advertisers reach the kind of audience they want to target (for example, women in SW1). We may make use of the personal data we have collected from you to enable us to comply with our advertisers' wishes by displaying their advertisement to that target audience.

From time to time we work with partners to try and promote the reach of our adverts using analytics and retargeting for this purpose. We use Tracking Data to deliver relevant online advertising, including via websites and social media.

Tracking Data, and in particular cookies, help us to deliver website and social advertising that we believe is most relevant to you and to potential new customers of Sarsen Technology. The cookies used for this purpose are placed on our website by specialist organisations. This is why when you’ve been on the sarsen.net website, you might see a relevant product advertised again elsewhere. This includes retargeting.

When you use sarsen.net, your device or browser may be sent cookies from third parties, for example when using embedded content and social network links. It's important to understand that we have no access to or control over cookies used by these companies or third-party websites. We suggest you check the third-party websites for more information about their cookies and how to manage them.

8. Where and How We Store Your Personal Data

The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of manufacturing partners. Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of your order, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services.

By submitting your personal data, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy policy.

We will only keep your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements.

By law we have to keep basic information about our customers (including Contact, Identity, Financial and Transaction Data) for six years after they stop being customers for tax purposes.

9. Information Security

Sarsen Technology has Cyber Essentials certification. Cyber Essentials defines a set of controls which, when properly implemented, provide organisations with protection from the most prevalent forms of threats coming from the Internet.

We limit access to your personal data to those employees who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach when we are legally required to do so.

10. Disclosure of your information

We may share your personal data with the parties set out below for the purposes set out in this privacy policy.

  • Suppliers, manufacturing partners and service providers (such as technology service providers, payment processing and courier services);
  • Auditors and professional advisers like bankers, lawyers, accountants and insurers;
  • Government, regulators and law enforcement.
  • In the event that we sell or buy any business or assets, in which case we may disclose your personal data to the prospective seller or buyer of such business or assets.
  • If Sarsen Technology Limited or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, in which case personal data held by it about its customers will be one of the transferred assets.
  • If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal data in order to comply with any legal obligation, or in order to enforce or apply our terms of use and other agreements; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Sarsen Technology Limited, our customers, or others. This includes exchanging information with other companies and organisations for the purposes of fraud protection and credit risk reduction.

11. Your Rights

If the General Data Protection Regulation applies to you because you are in the European Union, you have rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data:

  • The right to be informed
    • This means we have to tell you how and why we use your data. This privacy policy contains all the information you need.

  • The right of access
    • You have the right to send us a ‘data subject access request’ for copy of the personal data we hold about you.

  • The right to rectification
    • You can request that we correct personal data about you that may be incomplete or inaccurate.

  • The right to be forgotten
    • Also known as the ‘right to erasure’, in certain circumstances you can ask us to delete the personal data we have about you. We will comply unless there’s an overriding legal reason that we need to keep it. For example, by law we must keep data for six years for tax purposes

  • The right to restrict processing
    • In certain circumstances you can ask us to suspend processing personal data

  • The right to data portability
    • You may ask us for a copy of your personal data in a common format (for example, a .csv file);

  • The right to object
    • You can object to us processing your personal data (for example, if you object to us processing your data for direct marketing)

  • Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling
    • This means we must be transparent about any profiling we do, or any automated decision making.

These rights are subject to certain rules around when you can exercise them. You can see a lot more information on them, if you are interested, on the UK Information Commissioner’s Office website.

If you wish to exercise any of the rights set out above, please contact us at info@sarsen.net.

12. Access to Information

You will not have to pay a fee to access your personal data (or to exercise any of the other rights). However, we may charge a reasonable fee if your request is clearly unfounded, repetitive or excessive. Alternatively, we may refuse to comply with your request in these circumstances.

We try to respond to all legitimate requests within two weeks. Occasionally it may take us longer than 2 weeks if your request is particularly complex or you have made a number of requests. In this case, we will notify you and keep you updated.

Please be aware that we may need to request specific information from you to help us confirm your identity and ensure your right to access your personal data (or to exercise any of your other rights). This is a security measure to ensure that personal data is not disclosed to any person who has no right to receive it.

We may also contact you to ask you for further information in relation to your request to speed up our response.

You have the right to make a complaint at any time to the Information Commissioner's Office (“ICO”), the UK supervisory authority for data protection issues (www.ico.org.uk). We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns before you approach the ICO so please contact us in the first instance.
