Advanced, Adaptable Real-Time Recording and Playback

Conduant Corporation

Product Performance - High Speed

Conduant's StreamStor™ recorders sustain data rates up to 400 Mbytes/Sec from a single board. By using multiple StreamStor's you can record at 800 MB/s, 1 GB/s or beyond! StreamStor's unique approach to moving data direct-to-disk allows it to take full advantage of the speed of the hardware interface.

On the 33MHz/32-bit PCI bus, which has a theoretical limit of 132 MB/s, StreamStor™ easily sustains a data rate of 100 MB/s. Benchmark tests using a Catalyst Enterprises PCI Bus Analyzer measured a blazing 130 MB/s on the 32-bit PCI bus.

Flexible Interfaces

The StreamStor™ product line comes in PCI, PXI and CompactPCI form factors. The products are designed to use either the 32-bit PCI bus or the 64-bit PCI bus. In addition to the PCI bus, StreamStor™ supports interfaces like FPDP (Front Panel Data Port), Serial FPDP, or Channel Link (a low voltage differential (LVDS) interface developed by National Semiconductor). Pair StreamStor™ with off-the-shelf digital I/O boards, DSPs, A/D or Frame grabbers for additional interface options.

Sustained Transfer

StreamStor™ is designed to ensure that every data bit is captured and recorded error-free by the system. This is achieved by StreamStor's ability to dynamically move data to the array of hard drives attached to the system without the overhead of the underlying operating system.

Long Duration

As IDE hard disk drives continue to grow in capacity, so does StreamStor's ability to record for longer periods of time. Current off-the-shelf disk drives are available in capacities of 250 Gigabytes and higher. A base recording system from Conduant can start with 4 Terabytes of total capacity, providing recording durations of several hours at full speed. Conduant's Big River TK200 recorder starts with 4 Terabytes, however you may choose to use the TK200 as an infinite (24 hours/7 days) recording system with our swappable disk modules.

Scaling Options

Conduant's StreamStor™ products provide a wide variety of scaling options.

Add additional disks for higher performance

StreamStor™ is scalable for higher performance by simply plugging in additional hard disk drives - up to 16 on some models. StreamStor™ dynamically configures to the number of installed drives during system initialization.

Replace disks with higher capacity disks for longer duration

Longer recording duration is achieved by simply replacing existing drives with higher capacity drives. StreamStor™ is compatible with off the shelf IDE drives including 2.5', 3.5', Compact Flash and solid state drives. Maximum available capacity for 3.5" IDE drives is currently 500GB.

Multi-bus configurations for extremely high-speed applications

For data rates exceeding the performance of a single StreamStor™ (currently 200 Mbytes/Sec) you can configure multiple StreamStor's to record at rates up to 1 Gigabyte/Sec and beyond! Multi-bus motherboards and PCI expansion backplanes can be used for extreme scalability.

All StreamStor™ products are designed for sustained, high speed, error-free, recording and playback.
