Audio Weaver
The Audio Weaver Development System is an ADSP-21371 SHARC DSP board designed to
allow you to explore Audio Weaver Designer Software from DSP Concepts. The board has 2 audio
inputs and 4 outputs as well as S/PDIF I/O. The development system comes complete with Audio
Weaver Designer software and large library of optimised software modules, these can easily be
combined to create production quality applications on Sharc and Blackfin based hardware platforms.
Audio Weaver is a software tool created by DSP Concepts that speeds up product
development. It provides a large library of optimized software modules that are easily combined to
create production quality applications on Analog Devices Sharc and Blackfin based hardware platforms. Danville
Signal Processing has partnered with DSP Concepts to provide Audio Weaver support for many of the Danville
boards and systems. This includes complete turnkey systems that allow you to quickly customize your
product without the need for Analog Devices VisualDSP++, emulators and specific DSP software and
hardware expertise.
For example, a speaker manufacturer can implement a digital crossover with
bandsplitting, time alignment, equalization and limiting without writing a single line of code.
Parameters are adjustable in real time. When everything is ready, the program is written to flash. To
follow is an example of the controls of a simple automatic gain control. You can adjust all the
parameters dynamically. It's not a simulation, the actual code executes on the target hardware and
the PC interacts with the DSP over a communications link.
Custom Solutions
Turnkey solutions are just one way that Audio Weaver allows Danville's customers
to take advantage of quick time-to-market solutions. You can create your own custom system solutions
using Audio Weaver Designer or Audio Weaver Developer. Audio Weaver Designer allows you to combine
Audio Weavers' prebuilt software modules using Matlab. Audio Weaver includes a large library of
audio specific processing functions. The audio functions include compressors, limiters, volume
controls, tone controls, reverb algorithms, mixers, etc. and are sufficient to construct most
audio products. The audio functions have associated control functions enabling them to be
manipulated in the final product. To follow is a graphical representation of the same simple
automatic gain control illustrated above. The actual code that constructed the system is a short
Matlab script.
Audio Weaver Designer runs on any of Daville Signal Processing's supported
platforms. The Audio Weaver Demo Package includes Audio Weaver Designer and a companion PCB
with 2 audio input channels, 4 audio output channels and a S/PDIF digital audio interface,
powered by an Analog Devices ADSP-21371 SHARC DSP. All you need is a PC running Windows XP
or Vista and a USB port. If you want to create your own target platform or custom modules,
check out Audio Weaver Developer, DSP Concepts full featured environment.
