Single Board Computer Backplanes

complement the range of processors.
The multi-layer designs result in low noise performance.
Extra power connectors provide greater power capacity for larger applications.
In addition, sockets are available for bus termination
to help minimise reflections and interference on the bus. PCI Express,
ISA, PCI and cPCI backplane solutions are available.

BP3/6/4 64-bit Backplane
The Trenton Technology BP3/6/4 is an example of the 64-bit backplane solutions
available. It provides two ISA Bus slots for the use of standard ISA Bus option cards and ten PCI
Local Bus slots for the use of standard PCI Local Bus option cards.
The Trenton BP3/6/4 backplane accepts a PICMG® 1.0 compliant processor. The
backplane is a six-layer, .062" thick board with three separate signal layers: +5V, +3.3V and
ground. Multi-layer backplane construction provides excellent noise immunity.
PCI-to-PCI Bridge
The PCI-to-PCI bridge supports the PCI Local Bus 2.1 specification. This
bridge allows the PCI Local Buses to extend the electrical loading limits of a single PCI Bus
and to operate independently, allowing for communication within the same bus even if the other
PCI Buses are busy. The BP3/6/4 backplane has bus mastering capabilities on all ten PCI Local
Bus slots.
The power indicators provide a convenient visual check for +5V, -5V, +12V, -12V
and +3.3V power connections. The standard AT power connection is available through a 12-pin .156
MTA connector. Power connection for +3.3V is available through a 12-pin .156 MTA connector or
an ATX connector (optional). Additional power capacity is available through a 6-pin .156 MTA
connector.
