VersaLogic Lynx PC/104-Plus AMD Elan SC520 Processor Embedded Single Board Computer

The Lynx PC/104-Plus embedded single board computer features the low power AMD Elan SC520 processor. The Lynx is a compact 486 class product with integrated networking and I/O. This embedded SBC is ideal for industrial control, data monitoring and remote data collection applications.

The Lynx is designed for systems that require a small footprint, low power consumption, ruggedness, on-board storage capabilities, high-speed networking and low cost. It can be used stand-alone as an Ethernet processor node or with a PC/104 video module such as the VL-EPM-SVGA-2 in projects requiring a display. The pass-through connectors allow the Lynx to be mounted above a proprietary I/O board or device.

The main features of the VersaLogic Lynx include:

• PC/104-Plus form factor offering a small footprint and multi-vendor support solution
• AMD SC520 486 class CPU
• 64MB SDRAM soldered on the board for high reliability
• Integrated I/O includes 4 COM ports (two RS-232 and two RS-422/485), 2 general purpose timers, IDE interface, LPT port and PS/2 mouse / keyboard
• High speed networking with 10/100 Ethernet with on-board standard connector
• CompactFlash socket provides removable storage device that has no moving parts
• Fanless operation results in no moving parts across full operating temperature
• Pass through connectors for the PC/104-Plus bus allowing expansion above and below the board
• Watchdog timer provides hardware-level safety control for application run-away conditions
• Embedded BIOS with OEM embedded features which is field upgradable. Customization of the BIOS is available

Extended Temperature Range

The VersaLogic Lynx is based on the low power AMD Elan SC520 processor which operates at 133MHz in the standard version and 100MHz in the extended temperature range version. The complete SBC includes 64MB of on-board system RAM, a CompactFlash interface, 10/100 Ethernet, IDE interface, 4 COM ports, LPT interface, floppy interface and two counter/timers. A 2MB battery-backed static (BSS) RAM option offers on-board RAM with no drivers required.
