Freescale Dual-Core MPC8641D Processor-based AMC Module (ATCA/µTCA) with
Dual-Bank DDR2 and Quad Gigabit Ethernet
The Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) XPedite5140 is a single-width,
mid-height Advanced Mezzanine Card (AMC) featuring the Freescale MPC8641D System-on-Chip (SoC)
processor. The MPC8641D integrates two e600 PowerPC cores operating from 1.0 to 1.5 GHz each,
two memory controllers supporting up to 4 GB total (2 GB each) of DDR2-400/533/600 SDRAM, an x8
PCI Express interface, four 10/100/1000-Mbps Ethernet interfaces, and a SATA II controller
on an additional PCI Express port.
With each e600 core supporting a dedicated DDR2 bank and Ethernet controller,
the XPedite5140 is an optimal solution for packet-processing and general computing applications
that demand high performance.
The XPedite5140 provides two Gigabit Ethernet interfaces routed to the front
panel and two to the AMC backplane connector. The serial interfaces are accessible either
through the front panel or through the AMC serial I/O.
The XPedite5140 can be installed in MicroTCA (µTCA) hosts or AdvancedTCA (ATCA)
carrier cards supporting x1/x2/x4/x8 PCI Express or Gigabit Ethernet. Local SSRAM provides
low-latency memory to support shared-memory applications between the two cores as well as
Ethernet BDs and packet memory. Support for up to 4 GB of NAND flash is also provided for
storage needs.
