If you've been living under a rock for the last 20 years you'll have missed the veritable menagerie of animal-monikered embedded boards and solutions from our partner,
VersaLogic.
Following the success of the
Blackbird,
Owl and
Harrier cards, VersaLogic has just rolled out its latest rugged computer: the
Swift. This new addition packs high-performance Intel® Xeon® processors and is built to withstand tough environments in the defence, aerospace, and medical fields.
The Swift comes with
Intel’s 'Coffee Lake' 9th-generation Xeon processor, offering up to 32GB of error-correcting memory (ECC), fast on-board NVMe SSD storage, and TPM 2.0 security. This makes it perfect for critical tasks and high-altitude aeronautics work.
Inside, the Swift runs on Intel’s Xeon-E processor, with six cores and Hyper-Threading. Combine that with up to 32GB of ECC memory and a soldered-down 128GB NVMe SSD, and you’ve got a powerful edge computing machine on a SWaP optimised footprint. The Swift is
ideal for heavy-duty processing, especially when security or limited communication makes it tough to send raw data back to a data centre.
The Swift also has a bunch of built-in interfaces, including 2.5GB Ethernet, USB 3.1, serial ports, I2C, GPIO, analog inputs (ADC), and a Mini DisplayPort output. If thats not enough, it’s got SATA III connectivity too. Plus, with one Mini PCIe slot and two M.2 slots, you can add 5G, AI accelerators, GPS, extra storage, and more.
Despite all this power, the Swift is compact, measuring just
95 x 125 x 41 mm (3.7 x 4.9 x 1.6 inches). It’s built to work in extreme temperatures (-40° to +85°C) and can handle shocks and vibrations, meeting MIL-STD-202H specs.
VersaLogic ensures all its products, including the Swift, are reliable and available for the long haul, typically over 10 years, and the 5 year warranty gives peace of mind in the reliability stakes. whenThis makes the Swift a solid choice for both everyday and tough environments. Plus, you can customize it even in small quantities, with options including conformal coating, revision locks, custom labeling, and testing.
The Swift will hit the market in Q3 2024. For more details,
